What is management? It seems popular in today’s culture to avoid using the term “manager” and instead insert the term “leader” as if one of them is superior to the other or treating them both as interchangeable. We take a slightly different approach recognizing that both management and leadership are important roles. These roles can both be filled by the same person, and sometimes a person might only be involved in one of them. This program focuses directly on the management aspect of business results.
For the purposes of developing people in an organization to have a greater impact we define management as a “one-to-one relationship”. We define leadership as a”one-to-many relationship”.
These designations help us to explore the actual work that is being accomplished, and how it is best carried out. Our Everything DiSC management program builds on the science of DiSC and helps a manager understand how to develop a motivating environment, how to direct and delegate, and how to coach and give feedback in a way that best suits each individual on the team. When managing there is no one-size fits all or one-size fits most. You must manage one-on-one, not as a group.
How the Workplace Program Works
While every program is custom tailored to the organization we are working with there is a general format that has the best long-term results. Our intentions are to embed the language of DiSC and the benefits, into the dynamics of your company. This will allow your company to experience long-term results rather than just another training session.
The program starts with each of your managers completing an online assessment that produces a personalized 27-page management style report that will serve as the foundation for each of the sessions. You can view a sample HERE.
With the Everything DiSC Management program your participants learn about the foundational principals of DiSC and then experience viewing a number of situational videos that demonstrate “the wrong way” versus “the right way” to approach people on their team. These valuable video examples help embed the concepts in a way that makes the learning usable when they return to the management setting.
Here is a couple of examples of the “right-way/wrong-way” videos used:
These session modules can be scheduled on different days or as a several half-day or full day workshops. Here is an outline of each session included in the Management Program:
The program results:
We like to say that graduates of our Everything DiSC Management Program end up developing management superpowers. This doesn’t mean they become perfect managers but that they have a highly tuned ability to be self-aware and influence the behavior and performance of the individuals on their team. Specifically, they understand the impact their own style has on the way they use their time, make decisions and approach problems. Only when someone understands themselves are they in a position to influence others performance.
They’ll also have dramatically improved in their ability to direct and delegate, motivate and develop the individuals that they manage. They also graduate with the ability to work better with the person they report to, thus delivering increased results.
After the completion of the program, you continue to have access to some amazing tools to keep the learning alive.
We have a mobile/desktop app that allows individuals in your company to compare their styles and which gives them customized coaching on how to overcome any challenges they may be facing in working together. Here is a video overview of this modern tool as viewed on a desktop:
In addition, we’ll produce an Everything DiSC Management Comparison report that will help your manager have one-to-one meaningful discussions with each member of their team. You’ll find this produces significant results.
